World Waterfalls – Top 10
Forests, seas, grief, deserts – without them, our life would be boring and uninteresting. Going on a trip, even the shortest one, we learn about all the sights of the new place and try to visit them. But a quick run through interesting places does not give a complete picture of how nature works. That is why we today will tell you about such a thing as waterfalls. There are a huge number of them in the world, but we chose 10 – the most-most.
Angel Falls
The waterfall is located in the Venezuelan national park called Canaiama. The waterfall is among the ten most interesting in the world due to the fact that it is the highest. The distance from its highest point where the water begins to fall to the water mirror below is 978 m.
Tugela Waterfall
It is located in the national park of South Africa. And although its height is whiter than two times less than the previous one and is 411 m, it impresses with its graceful cascade. Three cascades flowing into each other, very narrow in width, so the waterfall looks like a thin ribbon against the backdrop of majestic mountains. The waterfall is hard to reach and only the bravest travelers can reach it.
Iguazu Falls
The widest waterfall is proud of the inhabitants of Brazil. It is located on the border with Argentina, so in some sources he is credited with an Argentine address. The width of Iguazu is almost 2 km, namely – 2, 7 km. This waterfall consists of 270 small water streams, which merge into one large mass. Iguazu appeared at the site of the eruption of the volcano.
Victoria Falls
A beautiful misty waterfall is located in Zambia – this is South Africa. Its spray scatters for 2 km and resembles either fog or smoke. Because of this beautiful natural phenomenon, locals call Victoria “Thundering Smoke”.
Niagara Falls
Not very high (53 m), but very powerful in terms of water volume (5,700 m3 per second), this waterfall is located on the border of America and Canada. It is because of this that he is so interesting to travelers. The waterfall pool resembles a horseshoe in shape and is perfectly visible from both countries. A huge stream of people wishing to see the beautiful waterfall led to the fact that it became a cult in terms of a tourist attraction. At night it is illuminated with different lights, and then the waterfall looks even more spectacular.
Zhenzhutan Waterfall
Zhenzhutan Chinese waterfall resembles the most delicate lace. The rock with which the water mass flows down consists of many stone cliffs. Passing between them, the water is divided into tiny streams that visually resemble a light water plexus.
Rideau Waterfall
A very decorative waterfall in Canada, which is better to watch in the winter. The rounded boulders, on which the flowing water freezes, resemble soft fleece. When the temperature rises a little, and the waterfall starts to work, then the freezing jets change the picture to another, the same charming.
Hokta Waterfall
This waterfall was opened recently, namely in 2005. Due to the fact that only Aboriginal people of Peru used to admire him, today tourists from all over the world come to him. How many years such beauty was hidden from the gaze of other people, one can only guess. After all, the waterfall is very large and today stands at 5th place in height (711 m).
Winnufossen Waterfall
The highest waterfall in Europe, Vinnufossen is located in Norway, its height is 860 m. It consists of four strong streams that fall from the mountain of the same name. The height of the fall and the powerful stones through which water passes create an incredible noise – it is heard for many kilometers.
Dettifoss Waterfall
In Iceland, a very powerful and spectacular waterfall falls from a small height, only 40 m. Its beauty lies in the fact that a huge amount of water, 200 cubic meters per second, passes through a rather narrow passage (only 100 m is the width of the waterfall). the waterfall looks best during floods, when the volume of water increases three times and is 600 cubic meters. m per second.
Crimea waterfalls are not included in the rating “top-10”. But their discreet beauty deserves to look at them..
